Profile on Learning
by Jan Trometer
- "..to strengthen character, with an emphasis on individual responsibility"
- "...to improve basic study skills"
- "...to inspire hope...and a personal vision for developing God-given gifts as they relate to academics"
These are the fundamental goals of the academic program at Victory Academy that were shared in the previous newsletter. We praise the Lord for what he has done in the classroom as procedures were established, routines were put into place, and appropriate classroom management techniques were determined.
God has now given us the opportunity to minister to several families. As with all young people, each of their sons has a unique learning style. As we seek to develop an even stronger program to meet individual needs, we are researching in particular an intensive one-on-one approach to reading and mathematics called Passport Learning. Integrating this system will complement our current curriculum and enable each student to fill in learning gaps and to advance in areas of difficulty is currently a high priority. Mastering basic reading and math skills will open the door for future academic success and equip each boy as he discovers God's greater plans for his life. As confidence is gained by applying "precept upon precept, line upon line" a fresh vision of his personal potential is renewed. Please continue to pray for us to have God's wisdom and His vision for bringing out the best in each student.
